OFFICIATING TEAM

If you are a current flag football official or interested in becoming one, below are details on what to expect with iFlag, our upcoming flag football tournaments, and a way to apply or let us know which tournaments you'd like to attend!

what to expect

Our officials will be expected to be the best the United States can offer, have general officiating experience and ideally playing experience in the primary format you will be officiating.

PAY STRUCTURE

We pay per game, to what amounts to between $30-$40 per hour.

TRAVEL

For approved officials, we will provide a hotel for each night of the tournament, 2 officials per room, or have a higher pay model for officials wishing to book their own accommodations. All officials are on their own to get to and from the event.

ATTIRE

All officials must wear the proper officials gear per our rule book including stripes on top with black shorts, along with a whistle, stopwatch and a yellow flag.

GAME DAY

Before each tournament begins, we kick off the event with an officials meeting and walk-through at the fields to clear up any questions, address “grey area” rule enforcement, and address positioning on the field. We provide tools such as rule cheat sheets and score cards along with quality meals with breaks to make each day as smooth as possible.

Becoming one of our officials at iFlag is an exciting endeavor that goes far beyond simply blowing a whistle on the field. It involves traveling to tournaments across the country, staying in shared accommodations or booking your own, and honing your skills to ensure each match is played safely and fairly. From the moment you step onto the field, you must be prepared for the nuances of officiating, which can include interpreting game mechanics, clarifying penalty calls, and coordinating with fellow referees. Because the role demands confidence and effective communication skills, we provide ongoing resources such as rule cheat sheets, pre-game meetings, and workshops to help you adapt to evolving situations. Of course, we also aim to make your experience as enriching as possible, offering stable pay per game, as well as quality meals and scheduled breaks to keep you energized on the job.

While officiating ensures you’ll always be where the action happens, there’s also plenty of downtime when you’re off the clock. Many referees use these lulls to recharge before the next match or catch up with other sports enthusiasts in the hotel lobby. Some are known to explore new ways of entertainment during these quiet periods, whether by socializing or enjoying certain leisure activities. If you’re looking for something that can deliver both excitement and a change of pace, you can try exploring the Best Online Casinos Ireland. This platform caters to those who appreciate the thrill of fair competition, much like flag football, but in a distinctive online setting. With safe payment options, reputable licensing, and diverse promotions, these casinos can offer a reliable way to pass the time responsibly between tournaments and travels.

Finding the right balance between rigorous on-field responsibilities and enjoyable off-field activities can enhance your overall officiating journey. Whether you’re perfecting your penalty-calling technique or taking a break to indulge in a few rounds of online gaming, discipline and a keen eye for detail remain essential. After all, the spirit of officiating is rooted in fairness, order, and respect—qualities that also serve well when you’re exploring new forms of entertainment. By training hard, keeping strategically fit, and stepping into every event fully prepared, you’ll uphold the standards that iFlag has established for each of its tournaments. At the same time, taking advantage of your downtime in a way that resonates with your interests can make a busy weekend of officiating both productive and personally rewarding.
